Can diversity stand in the way of……
On Friday May 21, 2010, Clinical and Translational Science Activities (CTSA) Grand rounds had a “Mentoring Master Class: Confronting Diversity.” Dr. Anthony Windebank, director of CTSA, gave a short presentation on some of the questions and issues that a diverse individual may encounter. Diversity did not only mean race, but included other factors such as being a mother and a scientist. Several cases and scenarios were presented and discussed among the panel as well as the audience. The discussion panel included Dr. Eddie Greene, Dr. Marina Ramirez-Alvarado, Danielle Miranda, and Dr. Huan Wang.
